Adrenaline R/C Invitational

This past weekend I went to Adrenaline R/C in Winchester Virginia to race their invitational event. While I have been to Adrenaline numerous times over the past 5 years this would be my first time since the installation of their new outdoor track. Fortunately the weather was slated to be beautiful in the 70's and just a perfect October weekend for some R/C fun.

The entry count was a solid 170 and while the invite class was small with just 7 drivers in it, the competition was still solid and required some clean runs and a fast pace on this Lee Setser built layout. Upon arrival on Friday I just wanted to get some laps and priamilry just ran AKA SSLW Lux all day. I had my Nitro buggy with my set-up from the Worlds (except for diffs and springs) and my Ebuggy with my set-up from Wicked Weekend. Quickly it was realized that was was needed on this track was a good amount of steering and also a quick rotation. I ended up really liking my set-up from the Worlds on my nitro buggy and so adopted all of those geometry changes over to my ebuggy as well.

As qualifying got underway I had a bit of a slow start in ebuggy just making lots of mistakes clipping pipes and the like. I was able to come back in Nitro though to TQ the round. Ebuggy Rd. 2 was a little better positionally but still too many mistakes gave me a 2 for the round. A similar thing in Nitro with a 2 which would leave the TQ spot wide open in both classes with a 3 way battle for the coveted spot. I opted to switch to SLW SuperNova's and they were fast and forgiving on the reasonably grooved surface with some dust. Ebuggy I would put in a 99% consistency run getting steadily faster as the run went on to take the TQ and win the tiebreaker for the overall TQ as well! In Nitro buggy I began putting in the fastest laps of the weekend thusfar on those same SLW SuperNova's and was able to take the TQ and just missed out on the 14th lap by .4 tenths, giving me the TQ in both classes heading into main day.

For the mains I opted to stick with the SLW SuperNova with just the rear foam taped as I wanted to get the forward drive and consistency from that but I wanted to keep maximum steering from the front (so didn't tape the front foam down.) In A1 of Ebuggy my car was solid from the get go netting a 99.1% consistency in the 8 minute run allowing me to take a 5 second victory. Next was the 30 minute nitro buggy main and it started off great, but 4 laps in I tumbled on a rut and another lap later stuffed the top left pipe falling back to 3rd. I cleaned it up after that though I marched back to the front which I was able to regain on lap 20 and then go on to run a pretty clean remainder of the run to take a lap victory.

Finally was the ebuggy A2 to finalize who would take the Invite championship. The track was at it's fastest all weekend and I was able to throw down six 22.4 laptimes to help me reach that 22nd victory lap and take the win and thus the overall Invite championship for the event.

Very pleased with my car and tires and all my equipment again this weekend. I had a great time at the event and it was fun to check out there outdoor track which complements their indoor track well for a well rounded R/C racing facility at Adrenaline R/C. I also forgot to mention some things that make this event special. They had a $75 entry fee and you could run as many classes as you wanted for that price. Also they provided breakfast and lunch on Satruday and Sunday for the racers! A great giving back type of race!

Set-up Notes:

**These Set-ups can NOT be copied until and unless new KPI hubs are released**

-Diffs are all 2 gear diffs. 10/20 gears in the front and rear and 12/18 gears in the center.

-Both cars have outboard toe. Accomplished by Pills in outside of rear arms. Pill on rear of arm is full wide and pill on front of rear arm is middle.

-Front link length only works if new KPI hubs become available. Utilized middle hole in the new KPI hubs with 18* Caster.
